Head Girl

Lucy Robinson

The position of Head Girl at St. Anthony’s has been a both an honour and a pleasure. After spending five very happy years in education at St. Anthony’s, there was no doubt about where I would study for my A levels. All of the staff put an incredible amount of time and hard work into making our time at Sixth Form a success.

I am currently studying History, Maths and Politics and I hope to continue my studies further at university. While studying Politics, I was fortunate enough to gain a valuable work experience placement with local MP, Julie Elliott. This gave me first-hand experience of working within a busy constituency office. I have also attended various conferences, including two in London as part of my A level courses which has deepened my understanding of my subjects and helped to prepare me for exams.

I am heavily involved in social action projects, both within the school and my parish, trying to improve the quality of life for many of the most vulnerable people in the city. As part of this work, I have been able to complete my John Paul II Gold Award. The Sixth Form is a very friendly community and the generosity of our students means that we raise a considerable amount of money for charity every year. I have co-ordinated many charity events in school, involving both teachers and students.

The extensive amount of support available from the pastoral team and subject teachers is incredible, particularly when it comes to applying to university or for apprenticeships.  I received so much help and advice when completing my personal statement and choosing the right university course for me. St. Anthony’s has offered me so many fantastic opportunities to enrich my time in the academy, and I am very sad to see that my time here is coming to an end. However, I do feel fully prepared for university and a future career.

Head Boy

Kevin Siby

It has been a privilege for me to be the Head Boy of St Aidan’s Catholic Academy. I am currently in the Upper Sixth Form and studying Mathematics, Physics and ICT. I have found my time at St Aidan’s extremely rewarding; I feel I am fully prepared for the next step in my journey, which is to pursue a career in the aviation industry. This passion stemmed from the experience and opportunities I have been given whilst at St Aidan’s; I have attended taster sessions at universities and having the opportunity to complete my work experience at an engineering firm. From this, I have gained valuable knowledge that helped me determine the right course.

I have been given many opportunities at St Aidan’s. Not only have I been given the opportunity to be Head Boy, but I have also completed The Duke of Edinburgh Award, represented St Aidan’s in various sports teams and been a Maths mentor for younger students. What I believe makes St Aidan’s stand out is the strong bond with the students and the staff. The staff at St Aidan’s are very considerate and supportive. The Sixth Form community are always there for each other. We recently had a “Shave off” fundraising event to support our fellow peers suffering from cancer.

I wholeheartedly believe that St Aidan’s has brought out the best in me. I have developed both academically but on a personal level too. I will always remember my time at St Aidan’s and will cherish this amazing journey that I now hold dear.
